Professional Authority

A PTIN permits preparation. An EA credential proves more.

An Enrolled Agent is not simply a tax-return preparer. The credential changes the professional standards, authority, and accountability behind the work.

The highest credential awarded by the IRS

An Enrolled Agent is a federally credentialed tax practitioner with unlimited practice rights before the IRS. Kateryna can prepare returns and represent taxpayers in examinations, collections, and appeals nationwide.

A PTIN is not a professional credential

Every paid preparer must have a PTIN, but a PTIN alone does not show that the preparer passed a competency examination or has unlimited representation rights. EA status requires a comprehensive federal tax examination or qualifying IRS experience, suitability review, and continuing education.

Professional standards and accountability

Enrolled Agents practice under Treasury Department Circular 230, including standards for competence, diligence, tax-return positions, and client communications. The IRS Office of Professional Responsibility may investigate misconduct and impose discipline.

EA and CPA are different credentials

CPAs are licensed by state boards in the broader field of accounting, and many are excellent tax professionals. The CPA title alone, however, does not mean tax is the practitioner’s primary focus. The EA credential is federal and specifically centered on taxation and practice before the IRS.

Protection beyond filing day

TaxFM signs the returns it prepares, remains available after filing, and carries professional errors-and-omissions insurance. If a notice arrives or a filing needs review, you know who prepared the work and who can help address it.

Certified Acceptance Agent (CAA)

Kateryna is also authorized by the IRS to assist with ITIN applications and review qualifying identification documents. In eligible cases, applicants may not need to mail original documents to the IRS.
